Ricoman supplied hospital lighting to Macclesfield District General Hospital in February 2022. Gilks contractors got it touch with Ricoman lighting consultants searching for a custom dimming solution. Stock readiness and overall product quality were important factors too.

Ricoman ticked all the boxes with our solid experience in lighting controls sealing the deal. The lighting products used on the specific project were Sky Panels. These are 600×600 LED panel lights with printed sky effects.

The project involved multiple patient wards and nurse stations throughout Macclesfield District General Hospital. It is remarkable to see what a difference these make in comparison to generic white plain fittings. The sets of 4 or 6 panels are positioned to be seen by all occupants whether they are seated or laid down and is a better point of focus to promote well-being and aid recovery in addition to improve working morale.

The client also requested a dimming method via a remote control for ease of use. This was a key requirement as it prevented multiple surface contact by service users within the ward, which would have been the case with a traditional wall plate control. Another benefit of this solution is that lighting can be managed without even entering the room which minimizes disruption to patients.
